Hike to the roof of the island - Roque de los Muchachos
On the winding approach to Roque de Los Muchachos, at an elevation of 2,426 m, we experience all the island's vegetation levels. Even when trade wind clouds gather on the mountain slopes above Santa Cruz, there's still hope for sunshine at higher elevations. The fog lifts at the very latest near the upper pine forest line. Our destination lies above the tree and cloud line.
Once at the top of Roque de los Muchachos, our hiking route leads up and down along the crater rim. We are rewarded with unique views into the erosion crater, across the sea of clouds, and all the way to the Atlantic. La Palma's observatories line our hiking trail along the crater rim.

- Santa Cruz de La Palma - 09.35 am at the bus terminal, stop for line 2
